Best Time To Visit Peru Machu Picchu
If you are planning a round trip through Peru, of course you want to travel when the sun is shining and you have perfect weather. However, it is also nice not to be at the market with a huge number of other tourists. Did you know that it is also more sustainable for the travel destination if tourism is better distributed over the year? We therefore advise you, if you are not dependent on the holiday times, to travel outside the high season. This is better for you and better for Peru!
Due to the Humboldt Current, which transports cold Antarctic water, the coastal region of Peru is relatively cool for its geog
raphical latitude and dry to very dry all year round. Temperatures rise highest during the summer months (January to March), with hot and humid days of around 29 ° C and cool nights of just under 20 ° C. Winters are not too cold, but it is often cloudy.
In the interior of the country, the temperature drops considerably with minor seasonal fluctuations — the maximum temperatures are around 21 ° C all year round. Winter nights, especially at higher altitudes, can get cold. The rainy season is between December and May.
The climate in the Andes depends on the altitude. Temperatures above 0 ° C are seldom reached from an altitude of 5,000 m.

Peru is in the southern hemisphere, so the seasons are opposite to those in Europe. The climate in the Andes is particularly important for a tour of Peru. In the Andes, the rainy season lasts from November to April. The best travel time is therefore in the months of May to September. Winter is in Peru from June to September, but there is hardly any rain and the sky is often blue. During the day there is a pleasant temperature of around 20 degrees. In February the Inca Trail is closed for maintenance.
